Quiet/Noisy Poems
Written with 4th grade buddies
in Mrs. Dietrich's Class

Kids sharpening their pencils before school starts.
Elephants blowing their trunks at the zoo.
A little boy screaming, after falling of his bike.
And me, watching commercials on T.V..

B.P., M.K., and C.S.

The rain falling on the ground while you are sleeping.
Whispering to myself as I go to sleep.
Leaves falling off the trees, falling slowly down.
Me, thinking and whispering quietly to myself.

W.H. and N.C.

Pencils moving on the paper.
Erasing their mistakes.
Rain tapping on the roof.
And me, writing on my paper.

B.P.C., M.P.

Shoes sitting in the closet.
The class whispering.
A piece of paper sitting on my desk.
I listen to the silence.

L.B. and M.C.

My dad snoring.
My sisters screaming.
The thunder banging.
And me, singing loudly.

B.P., E.E. and E.G.

A football being inflated.
Yelling at my brother.
Pencils getting sharpened in the morning.
Me, playing my sax.

M.M., B.M., and R.S.

Cars honking the horns.
T.V. blasting.
The vacuum running.
While I am screaming.

B.W., K.P. and B.F.

Hagrid grunting in his hut.
The Basilisk slithering in the chamber.
Arrog stomping in the forest.
And me, screaming for help.

T.M. and J.O.

The wind is blowing cold with tune.
The butterflies are fluttering across the moon.
It's quiet in the dark.
I stay silent in the park.

G.N. and A.W.

Loud rollercoaster.
Cars were honking.
A parade marches by.
I was screaming on the rollercoaster.

H.W. and P.M.

My baby brother napping.
My sister doing her homework.
Dad's reading the newspaper.
I am drinking apple juice.

S.S., M.C., and C.F.

Laying in the snow.
Reading a book.
Listening to a harp playing Mozart.
While I look at the planes go by.

K.F., J.J., and A.S.

My mommy shreds potatoes.
I watch the balloon floating in the air going up to the moon.
I watch my fish Goldy, swim around peacefully.
I sleep in my bed while I am dreaming.

C.E. and E.S.

Jet plane roaring.
Passengers yelling.
Sirens beeping.
And me, rolling my suitcase down the alley.

L.S. and J.W.

I hear kids whispering all around me.
I hear the sound of a flute playing all around me.
I hear people writing all around me.
I am reading in a library.

T.C. and G.G.

Butterflies resting on some leaves.
Fish swimming though the sea.
The cat tip toeing down the stairs.
And me, whispering to the wind.

L.M. and O.G.

Bunnies eating food.
Bunnies sniffing carrots.
Bunnies hopping over to me.
Me, petting the bunnies.

K.T. and D.E.

Rain dripping outside the window.
People making poetry.
Everyone is thinking.
Me writing poetry.

L.D. and E.C.

I hear the noise of splashing in the water.
The sound of a roller coaster in my ear.
The train thundering down it's track.
And me, screaming for it to stop, stop, stop!

M.O. and L.D.

Snowflakes falling.
Tapping on windows.
Breeze whooshing through the air.
I sit inside napping.

C.D. and P.N.
