Ocean Noises
By Zach
Waves splashing against the shore
Surfers surfing the ocean floor
People jumping in the cold ocean
And me, listening to the ocean noises.

Sharks swimming in the deep
Turtles hiding under the deep
Jellyfish stinging in the deep
And me, listening to the ocean noises.

Kids running in the deep ocean
Dogs swimming in the deep ocean
Adults watching their kids in the deep ocean
And me, listening to the ocean noises.

Snakes
By Nikki
My scaly skin shedding today
Slithering all this tired day
Hunting for my food
And me, in my car, watching.

Finding a big juicy rat
Slithering to find a nest
Finding my best
And me, in my car, watching

Listening
By Erik
The alligator chomping on the donkey
The donkey chomping back
A toilet flushing and flushing
And me, in the house, listening

A tree blowing in the wind
A soda can exploding
A person running to a bus
A smart board malfunctioning
And me, in a tree, listening.

Sounds
By Nico
Wind blowing the leaves
Birds chirping in the trees
A dog barking at the wind
And me, listening to all of it.

A plane going shhrrrrr
A train on the tracks going click clack click clack
Books opening and closing
And me, listening to all of it.

Listening
By Bradley
My sister singing the Usher "More" song in her sleep
My mom cooking in the kitchen
My dad crunching while eating
And me, sitting in the kitchen, listening.

Rain
By Madeline
Rain falling
Lightening stretching
Thunder singing
And me, humming along, listening

Dogs barking
Cats screeching
Hamsters chewing
And me, sitting peacefully, listening

Trees Swaying
Flowers growing
Grass blowing
And me, dreaming along, listening.

Animals
By Gia
My dog barking a loud screechy noise
A dog's leash and collar going cling cling
A cow mooing in a barn
And me, walking my dog, listening

A coyote on the island howling at his prey
A wet wipe screeching on a table on a boat
Fish jumping out of the boat
And me, on the boat, listening.

Noises
By Lili
A baby laughing at a bird
A cat meowing at the dog
A coyote howling at the moon
And me, sitting on my bed, listening

A bunny chattering on a carrot
A child whispering the alphabet
An adult laughing with a child
And me, sitting on the couch, listening.

A dragonfly dancing in the sky
The cattails whistling in the wind
A frog jumping from lily pad to lily pad
And me, sitting in a tree by the pond, listening.

Cooking
By Chloe
A spatula scraping the greasy meat
A hotdog turning over on a stove
French fries frying in the grease
And me, waiting for my lunch, listening.

Listening
By Chloe
Birds chirping in the trees
Children playing in the breeze
Dragon Flies flying in the wind
And me, sitting under a tree, listening.

Coloring and painting in a room
Splattering a paint brush on a piece of paper
Paint squirting left and right
And me, painting in a room, listening.

Sounds
By Sierra
Leaves fluttering to the ground
A toy flushing down the toilet, "flush, flush"
Pop rocks sizzling in my mouth
And me, in a car, listening!

Amazing Noises
By Joelle
Lying under a tree listening to
the sounds I hear ...
The Ocean Waves
Crabs crawling on the sand
My sister singing the alphabet
And me, lying on the beach, listening.

The wolves howling at the moon
My dad snoring in his bed
My mom cooking in the kitchen
And me, lying in my bed, listening.

Spinning and Splashing
By Grey
Yoyos spinning side to side
Water splashing far and wide
Sharks swimming round and round
And me, in the Bahamas, listening the whole time.

Gliding
By Casey
A squirrel climbing in the tree
A football soaring through the air
A bird gliding through the sky
And me, sitting in a chair, listening.

Lying and Listening
By Preston
Birds flying over the pond swaying their wings
Alligators chomping down by the swamps
And me, just lying under a tree, listening

Fish hiding in the water cracks
Rocks just sitting there doing nothing
And me, just skipping rocks in the water, listening.

People smoothly driving on the road
Clouds starting to get darker
And me, just walking home from the pond, listening.

Listening
By Jordan
Birds chirping back and forth
Waves splashing to and fro
Yoyos bouncing up and down
Squeaking as they go
And me, on the sand, listening.

Swishing
By Julian
Clouds moving gently through the air
Swish swoosh go the clouds
Eating a sandwich watching the clouds move
And me, sitting in a bench, listening.

Listening
By Grace
A dog barking at a cat
A mom eating lunch at a table
A baby sleeping with a teddy bear
And me, eating ice cream, listening

A coyote howling at the stars
A bunny munching on a carrot
A dragonfly dancing in the soaring wind
A frog jumping from lily pad to lily pad
And me, sitting under a tree, listening.

Letter Poems

Sand Dollars
By Chloe

Dear Sand Dollar
I love the way your star fish winks at me
Your roundness and whitish color
Are like a white pizza
Does it hurt when you break?
Are you a creature?

Water
By Preston

You gleam in the bright
Shimmering sun
Does the moisture in you
Feel like anything?
Why can't I breathe in you?
Drip Drop you go
Off me
You make me not move
As fast
That's why I know who you are.

Trees
By Lili

I love the way your branches are curled
Up sometimes
Your leaves are so pretty when they fall
Off in the fall
When your branches get cut off I feel
So sad forever and ever
Until I forget
The nature of you is the best
How do you get up to the tallest
branch?

Waves
By Sierra

I like the way you splash
On my body
With white foam
On the end
You come on the sand
So beautifully
And quickly
I can barely see
You splash and hit.

Horses
By Jordan

I love the way
Your main curls
In the wind.
Your hoofs click
Like metal bars
How do you race so fast?

Ocean
By Nikki

I twist and glide with a big splash
Your body glides
Nice and smooth
How do you glide through?

Chewy
By Zach

Dear Chewy
I love the way that your
Eyes blend brown
Like fur
Your ears plop down like
Ocean waves
What is it like to be a dog?
I wish I was a dog so
I could answer my
Questions.

Birds
By Gia

I love the way you whistle
Tweet tweet!
Your beautiful red and blue
Feathers are as pretty as
Red nail polish
How do your feathers turn color?
Why are you so pretty?

Tigers
By Grey

The black stripes up and down
I wish you could answer
All of my questions
I will look and see your
Future
Why do you have such a big smile?

Ice
By Joelle

I love the way you slide
On my hand
You sparkle like a gem
Why do you melt
From a perfect
Cube to
A puddle of water?

Trees
By Grace

I love the way I can climb up you
Your branches and leaves
Swirl and swirl
What birds have come and made nests?
Where have the grown birds gone now?
