Mind.
Young, questioning mind.
Young, questioning mind soaking up all the world has to give.

Mrs. Ryan

Whistling Teapot
Spouting steam
On the hot burner
Just before dawn
Waiting to satisfy my thirst
Mrs. Ryan

Blossoming
Colors erupting from the earth
Shooting upwards toward the sky
Awe
Inspiring beauty nature brings
Spring brings life to dormant world
Soon to be Summerıs green
Mrs. Ryan

What To Do If You Are A Fall Leaf
Fade slowly from the green of summer.
Shine brightly dappled with orange and yellow.
Dance merrily in the cooling sunshine.
Darken into the dull brown of the coming winter.
Release your hold to the tree that binds.
Float gently to the awaiting earth.
Listen to the laughter of children raking.
Sleep beneath the blanket of winterıs mantle.
Decay to bring new life to Spring.

A blue heron lifts of from a quiet beach.
Disturbed by a mother and child approaching.
Wings extended in a graceful glide.
Legs trail behind it's elegant body as though being left behind.
The gently breeze made by it's wings touches my face as it floats before my eyes.

Peeking out of the earth
Easily crushed yet strong enough to break concrete
Pale with just a hint of the green to come
Seeds sprout in the Spring

Children
smiling, laughing,
giggling and talking
bringing a smile to my face

Tulips
dark green tips
pushing through the hard ground
stretching upwards to the clear blue sky
swaying in the soft wind
budding colours of
spring
~Mrs. Rastin

Mickey antenna balls
putting a smile on my face
each day as I drive
through the city
reminding me of family times.

Erie
My Best Friend
She is a Happy Dog
Erie runs while I Ride my Bike
She can even give me a High Five and paw
My Best Friend can do many tricks, like count to ten
Erie can smell smells that we can't, her favorite is Dryer Sheets
Erie's favorite thing of all is to swim at Yough Lake with the Ducks

sat on a lily pad
in a dirty brown pond
during a warm summer day
waiting for flies to catch

Buddy
Soft, black-furred, loving Buddy
Soft, black-furred, loving Buddy cuddles on my lap.
Ms. Filer

My daughter's trouble-making, black cat Buddy
Leaping from the back of the couch to the lights in the ceiling
In our TV room
Last night after he had been outside
Trying to catch the fluttering, flying ant that flew in the door.
~~ Ms. Filer, 2009

White ball soaring high,
Landing in the fairway.
Launching again, close to the green,
Dropping softly by the edge.
Do I putt or chip it?
Bogey!
Yippee! I LOVE golf.
~~ Ms. Filer, 2009

What to do if you are a caterpillar
Munch leaves all day long,
Explore the garden for a resting place,
Spin a chrysalis of silk and warmth,
Wait patiently for metamorphosis,
Emerge as a beautiful butterfly,
Spread your wings and soar.
~~Ms. Filer, 2009

What to do if you are Buddy
Beg for kitty treats,
Hide in shadows really well because I'm black,
Twitch my tail and hit you in the face,
Bite when I'm scared or mad,
Bat my play toys down the hall,
Purr loudly when I cuddle,
Love my owner.
~~ Ms. Filer, 2009
