5 W Poems

A big blue book
Asked me if I liked the story
In my small room
At my bed time
So it can have an opinion.

Ally

A giraffe
Raised his long, skinny neck
In the grassy fields of the safari
In the hot, hot summer in the middle of the day
To eat some leaves.

Matthew
A book
Snapped at kids
In the classroom
At reading time
For self-protection.

Cole
A German Sheppard
Chased a criminal
Outside
In the summer
To get the criminal back to jail.

Eddie
A secret agent
Was on a mission
On an island
On Tuesday
Because, well, that was his job.

Patrick
My fuzzy, little, yellow ducks
Fell quietly asleep
In the warm comfy corner
At sizzling sunset
Because they were tired.

Jordan
A tree with green leaves
Lost a lot of leaves
Right next to my house
Today
Because the wind blew them out.

Efrain
The black TV
Watched us learn
In our classroom
In the morning
To show it on TV.

Chris
A pillow
Hit me in the face
At noon
In the school
Because it's a huge, fat, meany!

Izabelle
The marvelous cheetah cat
Ran fast to catch food
In the wild
At mid-day
To live.

Brian
The red body pillow
Talked to the second grade boy
Right near the little boy's seat
After lunch
Because he was so lonely.

Evan
My big, wacky brown lab dog
Wrecked the yard
At my house in the back
When my mom called me for lunch (Yummm sandwich!)
I don't know why.

John
A bulky pumpkin
Said, "Hey, how you doing?" to a farmer
In a pumpkin patch
In the morning
So he can finally talk for the first time.

Justin
My grandma's long haired Chihuahua
Ran through the woods chasing a butterfly
At my house
In the morning after breakfast
Because she was bored.

Jada
My fun puppy Maxie
chased a squirrel up a tree
in my yard
after lunch
to play catch.

Ally
The little puppy
Was licking my hand
In my back yard
After I got my ice cream cone
To taste the chocolate ice cream cone.

Caterina
The big, fluffy pillow
Laying on the table
In the living room
After everybody went to bed
So it doesn't get squished.

Gianni
My Nana's black cat
Licks me
In the basement
After lunch
To show me love.

Jenna
Polar bear
Walking with its big, fat belly
In the Arctic snow
After sleeping for one hour
Because he woke up when it was the end of hibernation.

Dasha
The huge, long squid
Rocketed in the water
In the Atlantic Ocean
At daylight
So he could catch a crab for dinner.

The Dancing Easter Rabbit

I'm a dancing rabbit
Dancing through the woods. Hooray for me!
I am the luckiest boy
Yee-ha, Hooray!
Hooray!
It is fun hopping
Sure is fun, why not hop all day?
Time to hop home, bye!

Izabelle

My Birthday

April fourth was my birthday party.
My birthday party was the best
birthday party ever!
I went skating with
my best Mommy
ever. I love
her!

Jada

I have fun on my birthday
I get money
I have key lime pie
I get to go to the movies
I can do anything I
want
Happy Birthday to me!

Cole

When I take a walk in the garden
I love to look around,
to see if I can find anything.
Sometimes I read in the garden.
Sometimes I
sit on the bench and draw
in the moonlight.

Gianni

Vegetables

Planting vegetables is good for you
Vegetables are healthy
They taste good to eat.
I like corn.
Do you
like them?
I like vegetables!

Jordan

Ice Skating

Cold, chilly, windy snow
Sow is all around!
I see a lot of people skating.
Now the fish are freezing.
People are falling.
I like to skate a lot.
By the way, try not to break the ice!

Evan

First day of School

Nervous kids on the bus.
Scared
Sad kids pull up at the school.
Down
the metal bus steps.
Trot
down the halls, up the stairs to your class.

Ally

Tomatoes

Time to grow veggies
Buy the seeds and plant them
Water them, put them near the sun
Grow
Harvest them at the end of the season
Tomatoes are delicious
You can also plant other kids of plants

Chris

Bengal Tiger

The Bengal tiger
walked through the woods wagging his striped tail.
He has black and white stripes.
His claws are sharpened.
His hair is so very soft.
Get away or he'll bite!
Roar!

What To Do If You Are A Skateboard

Torn up grip tape gets chipped
Stepped on and chipped board
Rolls on the ground
Scratched metal skateboard trucks
Rolls faster with bearings

Grow to be big and strong
Make fruit
Drink water
Die because of pollution
Have branches put in a bonfire

Eat bone-shaped dog food
Wag my tail when I want a treat
Bark all day long
Jump through hoops for training

Eat whatever you want
Destroy a jumbo jet
Go nuts
Get to be the biggest ape in the world

Get put away when people are done with them
Move your paper when you use it
Stuck on top of a pencil
Feels squishy

The big crackling red, orange, and yellow fire
The horrible hot dangerous fire
Spreading each minute at its own pace
