Can You Imagine? The world without sun. A day without
fun. A cat that weighs a ton. A war without a gun. A
picnic without ants. An alligator without
pants. Yelling with no rants. A student with no "I

Snow capped Rocky Mountains grace the western horizon,
Nestled among them lies the protected area of the national park.
The shaggy elk graze in the open spaces at the lower elavations,
Filling themselves with sustenance,
Necessary for the hike into the high alpine country,
To rear their calves during the short sunny summer season.

What to Do if You are a Cabbage Palm
Shelter spiders and snakes.
Fan us on a hot day.
Provide sisal for Seminole Indians.
Cluster with others for an oasis.
Produce fronds for thatch roofs.
Spin thread among the fronds.
Yield a heart for food.
Supply wood for a canoe.
By Mrs. Godley
Can You Imagine...
by Mrs. Godley
Naples without tourists?
Tourists without cars?
Cars without drivers?
Drivers without judgement?
Judgement without logic?
Logic without thinking?
Thinking without a brain?
A brain without a person?

Mrs. Patterson
The Sunset
The sunset paints a colored sky, paints of orange, red, yellow, purple and pink.
The sunset creates a silhouette of the earth.
Reflections of the sun dance across the water.
The colorful glows of the sky disappear in to the night.

What To Do If You Are Retired
Travel the country full time.
Visit old battlefields.
Have lunch with your friends on a weekday.
Get involved in Good Works.
Take a cruise . . . in February.
Go to Hawaii . . . in December.
See a movie right after lunch.
Take pictures of everything!
Annoy all your friends who are still working.
Stay in bed and read all day.
Buy new shoes on a Monday morning.
Shop online in the middle of the night.
E-mail friends whenever you want.
Run the poetry project for your favorite writers.

Sunrise
By Mrs. Rizzuto
I like it.
Ask me why.
Because it shouts with color that itıs a new day!
Because it brings promise to the start of my day.
Because it warms my soul.
Because the glow gives my thoughts a positive energy for the day.
Because I know tomorrow morning I will watch it rise again.
Thatıs why.
I like the sunrise.

My First Graders
I love them.
Ask me why.
Because their eyes sparkle as they share their incredible thinking.
Because they make amazing and brilliant connections to our learning.
Because the passion they have for learning, friendships, and creativity is
contagious.
Because their beautiful smiles, wit, wisdom, and first-grade humor makes my
heart happy.
Because they teach me something new every day.
Because, because, because.
That's why!
I love my first graders.

Spring
I like it.
Ask me why.
Because vivid purple crocuses and sparkling yellow daffodils peek through
the earth.
Because bright blue jays dart through the gnarled cherry tree in my front
yard.
Because tree buds begin to open, covering their branches in tiny soft pink
blossoms.
Because gentle sunshine warms my face as I walk the Centennial Trail.
Because nature is waking from her winter's sleep and offering her amazing
sights, sounds, and new beginnings.
Because, because, because.
That's why!
I like Spring.

Wishing For Spring
The ol' groundhog was right
No spring in sight.
The rain, hail and snow are soo cold
This spring weather is getting old!
Ms. Minsart
Is it Time?
Tick-tock, tick-tock,
Ring, ring, ring,
Buzz, buzz,
Run, run, run,
The clock shows,
Whistle blows,
It's time!

Nature's Jewels
Stones scattered on the riverbed,
a collection of jewels made by nature.
Piles of rocks and pebbles,
Smoothed round over eons of time,
Their colors as numerous as the stars,
Decorated by the Earth herself,
With spots, swirls and stripes.

Post Card from Hawaii
A beautiful hula dancer with scented flowers in her hair
performs gracefully on the shoreline.
Balmy breezes blow gentle waves that lap at her feet.
A slowly setting sun sends streaks of yellow and orange shooting through the sky.
The golden orb glides gratefully toward the horizon
as she celebrates the glorious sunset with her dance.

What To Do If You're A Collector
Fill your house with the pieces and parts associated with all your hobbies.
Collect the things you love to have around you.
Live amongst way too many "chatkes" according to my husband.
Buy new shelves and rearrange your space
So hopefully you'll have room to actually work there one day!
Gather your stamps and go to Tina's house to make cards for birthdays and holidays.
Lug all your scrap booking stuff to Cindy's house to preserve all your memories and
Crop 'Til You Drop!
Shop for beads and findings to make necklaces, bracelets and earrings
To match your outfits and for your friends.
Reread your favorite books over and over again,
Until you wear them out and need new copies.
Listen to all the clocks chime, cuckoo, tick, tock and tweet.
Hunt for a few spare minutes to explore and enjoy your collections.
Spend a lot of time dusting and cleaning up after yourself!

In an empty football stadium
All alone in Memphis, Tennessee on a cold day in December.
An early, anxious Fresno State Bulldog fan waits alone
For the Liberty Bowl Game to begin.
And his hometown team to score the first touchdown of the game.

An Ancient City
by Mrs. Lyons
Sandy-brown mud walls, standing tall
Keeping Khiva's ancient history closed inside its thick and heavy embankments
Quiet and peaceful, few sounds are heard
An unfinished cylindrical tower of cream colored bricks
Shows blue, green, and multicolored tiles against a cloudless sky.
