Snap Shot Poems

Bangkok Zoo
by Anita

Lots of different colors like orange, blue, and gray
The sandy and brown ground
Big shapes like an elephant, a roof, and trees
Little shapes like me and a stand
Happened in the Bangkok Zoo
Two years old and
That elephant is smiling

New York City
by Alex

Tall buildings in different colors filling the air and stretching for the sky
Green, yellow, tanish, and brown buildings
The pointy Empire State Building reaching to the clouds
Buildings sky high and some in construction
Sight seeing boats and transport boats cruising along the surface of the water
People everywhere on land, on roads, in buildings, and on water
It's in the noisy New York City

In the Sea
by Bum Kyoo

Playing in the Antalya sea
Picking up the circular stones
The water is very warm on my skin
All the sea is clean and colorless
Everyday I smile when I touch the water because I like to feel the water
The weather is very hot
My mom is helping me to pick up the hard stones
The sea is shining in the sun
My hair was all wet but the hot sun dried up my hair

Paris
by Daniel

A high Eiffel Tower
Like a huge four sided "A"
Long, straight, wide road from under the tower
Large park area around
Big and small houses all over the flat place
Many people on the square take the pictures
A golden sculpture of a woman
A thick silky forest like a carpet
Summer light
Blue sky above
People as tiny as ants

The Elephant Ride
by Helena

Green tall palm trees covering the hot sun
A gigantic gray elephant with short scratchy hairs
Hot and sticky weather
Yellow and green grass swishing in the sun
Sitting very high and feeling a little scared
Little bugs buzzing around the huge fat elephant
Smells like green fresh grass on the ground
Small people riding on an enormous elephant
There is more sun than shade
The green of the palm trees is darker than the grass and the sun

My Trip to Zugspitze
by Sasha

The snow as white as a calla lily
Many kinds of people sliding up and down
Sunlight shining on the snow
People sitting in the very hot sun
Many people go to really good restaurants
People riding ski lifts up and down big hills
Rocky mountains all over the place

Thailand Zoo
by Shoki

Black with two big white ivory swords
Standing in the zoo
Many kinds of people didn't get onto it
Long fat trunk so it can pick up some things like food and leaves
Larger than all the people
A big foot so if it goes into the sand there will be a large footprint left behind
I went onto the elephant’s back with my dad.

St. Mawes Castle
by Trystan

A grey castle,
in Cornwall with a cannon as black as charcoal,
a flag flying wildly in the wind,
a colossal castle,
by the raging sea,
with rough, curved walls,
lofty in their size,
arch shaped windows for a fabulous view,
at the peak of a slope and
trees swaying from side to side.

Singapore Airport
by Valerie

Mom took a picture of me and Angie with my dad.
We were waiting in the Atlantis café.
The Atlantis Cafe is in the Singapore airport.
I have a blue dress and I use a blue bag.
At that time my hair was curly.
Behind me is a beautiful green plant.
Behind us two pretty women are standing.
My father is holding little Angie.
Angie was wearing red and white shoes.
Angie uses a soother.

An Ancient City
by Mrs. Lyons

Sandy-brown mud walls, standing tall
Keeping Khiva's ancient history closed inside its thick and heavy embankments
Quiet and peaceful, few sounds are heard
An unfinished cylindrical tower of cream colored bricks
Shows blue, green, and multicolored tiles against a cloudless sky.

The Pond
by Alex and Shoki

Dark big and black water
Big white and sleepy frogs
Lots of tiny tadpoles
Big and blackfishes
Water bugmen racing over the water's surface
A lot of grass sticking out of the muddy brown water
Very deep water with fish and frogs sleeping at the bottom
But they only come up when nobodies there
Big eyes with a big body with black color
Tadpoles nibbling on algae
It is located at T.I.S
Around the back side behind the office

Some TIS Flowers
by Sasha and Mrs. Lyons

Flowers white as snow
Bunched together like many cotton balls
Looks like tiny wedding bouquets
Sprouting outside in nature
Making our school playground more beautiful

The Pond
by Daniel and Trystan

Tadpoles nibbling around it,
fish swimming in it,
marble white frogs swimming around it,
water boatmen ice skating on the surface,
light brown plants growing on it,
tadpoles learning to swim with their parents in it,
big fat leaves falling from the tallest trees around it
and plants and trees giving people the oxygen to breath.

The Brown and Green Watery Pond
by Helena and Valerie

Little black tadpoles swimming in the deep dark water
Sleeping frogs in the brown water
Jumping frogs going to swim
Hungry frogs going to eat a tasty lunch
Big black fish going to eat the yummy tadpoles
Sun shining on the little lily pads
Frogs on the lily pads jumping around
Tall and long and green and yellow plants
Growing out of the water

The Green Pond
by Anita and Bum Kyoo

Brown and green water that makes waves
A lot of animals like to live in it and swim in it
Swimming bugs like to skate on it
They like to jump in it
Tiny tadpoles stick to the edges
Jumping bugs also go on top of the water
Large white frogs like to hid in it
One large fish likes to wiggle its long pretty tail

What To Do If You Are ... Poems

What To Do If You Are a Cheetah
By Trystan

Stay away from human hunters.
Run as fast 70 miles an hour.
Hide in the grass.
Fight for your life.
Stay away from lions and hyenas.
Hunt in the day to avoid lions and hyenas.
Bite your prey on the neck.
Have a high speed chase.
Have babies.

What To Do If You Were an Emperor Penguin
By Alex

Crack out of your egg.
Grow feathers when you are small.
Waddle from side to side.
Take turns getting warm.
Lay eggs.
Keep the eggs warm.
Dive in the artic sea.
Go 50 miles for food.
Keep your baby warm.
Feed your young.
Eat a lot of algae and krill.
Spend your whole life in the arctic.

What To Do If You Are a Shark
By Bum Kyoo

Eat all the fishes.
Smell the blood.
Hear the fish swimming.
Breathe only under water.
Live in a sea or ocean.
Have lots of sharp teeth.
Hunt for fish.
Move your back teeth to the front when the front teeth come out.

What To Do If You Were a Penguin
By Shoki

Dive into the water like other penguins.
Dive into water faster than people.
Have a warm stomach.
Catch food fast.
Slide on the ice.
Feed babies with your mouth.
Be one of these kinds of penguins: Little Blue penguin,
Emperor penguin, Adelie penguin, Chinstrap penguin,
Magellan penguin, Gentoo penguin, Macaroni penguin
or Rockhopper penguin.

What To Do If You Are a Penguin
by Valerie

Swim to go get food for your penguin chicks.
Stand near your baby chicks to make them warm.
Dive in the very cold ocean.
Swim every day in Antarctica.
Slide down the snowy hill.
Walk silly.

What To Do If You Were a Penguin
By Helena

Dive in the very deep water.
Search for food in the freezing ocean.
Swim faster than people.
Sit on your babies’eggs to keep them warm.
Be called the Macaroni Penguin.
Only live in very cold places.
Live in Antarctica like most penguins.
Get out of the water so a whale won’t eat you.

What To Do If You Are a Penguin
By Anita

Swim in cold Antarctica ocean.
Dive deep in the ocean.
Don’t get wet because you will have two layers of feathers.
Swim fast.
Live in Antarctica.
Slide on your bellies.
Walk funny.
Be good parents.
You cannot swim backward.

What To Do If You Are a Frog
By Sasha

Protect the frog family.
Make a nest for the new babies.
Find food for the family.
Teach the babies how to hunt for food.
Croak as loud as you can when one of the members is in trouble.
Jump as far as your legs can go.

What To Do If You Are a Dolphin
By Daniel

Breathe with a hole in the head.
Rescue people from the deep oceans and seas.
Eat fish.
Swim with other dolphins.
Jump out of the water.
Swim very fast.
Be very smart.
Talk with clicking sounds.
Swim with groups called schools.
Live in warm oceans and seas.
Be born from near the mother¹s tail.
